Sublocade Injections

Addiction Medicine Specialists located in Bothell, WA

Sublocade™ injections provide effective treatment during opioid recovery while eliminating the need for daily medication. A monthly buprenorphine injection delivers a controlled, consistent dose to your bloodstream — removing many of the variables that can affect recovery.

Sublocade™ is an injectable medication containing buprenorphine, which reduces physical dependence on opioids by decreasing the urge to use and lessening withdrawal symptoms. It is effective for heroin addiction and dependence on prescription opioids including Morphine, Codeine, Fentanyl, Oxycodone, Oxymorphone, and Hydrocodone.

Buprenorphine is a partial opioid agonist — it acts on the same opioid receptors as true opioids but with much weaker effects, so you won’t get high. However, it does reduce withdrawal symptoms including: nausea/vomiting, body aches, fever, diarrhea, irritability, and depression. One monthly injection provides a steady, consistent level without the need for daily pills or frequent clinic visits.

If you’ve been taking a daily dose of oral buprenorphine for seven days and it has effectively controlled your withdrawal symptoms, you may be a candidate for Sublocade. Some medications and certain health conditions might affect candidacy. During your evaluation at Northshore Health, your provider will determine if Sublocade is right for you and incorporate it into a customized recovery plan including recovery support, holistic medical care, and mental health service referrals.
